Where it all started

When they couldn’t find proper coverage for their prized wooden boats, Frank and Louise Hagerty started Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance out of their home basement in 1984, followed by Classic Auto Insurance in 1991.

What began as a small niche insurance agency has evolved into an automotive brand focused on the love of cars and driving.

From insurance agency to a community of car lovers

We’ve taught teenagers to drive stick shift, broke the story about finding the real Bullitt Mustang, renewed wedding vows at a drive-thru at Woodward Dream Cruise, helped millions of enthusiasts find accurate values for their cars and we’re just getting started.

What's next?

Driverless cars may be inevitable, but we’re not going to let them force us off the road. We believe cars, the community that surrounds them and the hands-on experience of driving them are worth keeping alive.
